"John Ewing - Feb. 29, 2008" We are sorry to inform you that John P. Ewing, Jr., the owner and operator of Applied Science Center, has passed away on February 29, 2008 from pnuemonia. His wife, Loraine, is taking care of the business until the plants are ready to send to the customers. Dean Stock, a good friend of the family, now has the seed and plant material that will need further replating and will ship the plants to our customers after they have been replated in his laboratory and grown large enough to send. The plant material that has already been replated will be grown on by Loraine and she will send them to the customers as they are big enough and the weather moderates. Dean will also have the extra stems and crosses that John was advertising and they will be available from Dean to buy, with proceeds being sent back to Loraine to help her with expenses. If you have questions about your plant material or about the stems and crosses that are available, feel free to call Loraine at (541) 857-2020 or e-mail her at or loraine.innovative.edu@gmail.com or e-mail Dean Stock at stockspallone@kanab.net
Applied Science Center provides the orchid enthusiast a chance to make your own crosses and have them planted from your dry seed or green seedpods and grown to a size that can be easily planted out into pots. We also provide a service for the propagation of your favorite plants. For those who desire to have their plants cloned, please contact us directly. Our laboratory is unique in the industry in producing large, uniform, vigorous seedlings ready for individual pots using three steps to germinate and separate the growing seedlings into new media while removing the unproductive tissue that can often crowd the bottles, thereby allowing the plants to grow faster and larger. They maintain their vigorous growth throughout the process and will perform better for you in becoming acclimated sooner to out of the bottle conditions, blooming sooner, and having better color and form. In addition to these services, we have available select red and yellow Phalaenopsis stem propagations and seedlings. Please go to the links on this web site to find information on the following:
